On the 8th day of the month of Dhu al-Qi’dah (May 6), a press conference was held at Tatar-inform on the topic: “Key Sessions at KazanForum: The Halal Industry in Focus. “During the event, Abbyas Hazrat Shlyaposhnikov, Chairman of the Halal Standards Committee of the Muslim Religious Board of the Republic of Tatarstan (DUM RT), spoke about the Committee’s planned activities within the upcoming XVI International Economic Forum “Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum 2025”.
The press conference was also joined online by Aidar Gazizov, Director General of the International Center for Standardization and Certification (ICSC), and Ramis Yakupov, Director General of the certification body “Tsentrhalalnadzor.” The speakers highlighted the Forum’s potential not only as a platform for discussing pressing issues and making collective decisions but also as a driver for job creation, increased trade turnover, and overall industry growth.
“2030: Strategy for the Halal Industry” – Key Session
This year, the Halal Standards Committee will host a dedicated session titled “2030: Strategy for the Halal Industry.” The session is expected to bring together international experts from organizations such as: SMIIC, GCC Accreditation Centre, SASO, SFDA, MoIAT, EIAC, JAKIM, BPJPH, INCO.
These experts will discuss development strategies for the halal industry for the period 2025–2030, with a strong focus on: certification processes, export of Russian halal products, strengthening cooperation with key countries.
Speakers will share their experiences of working with Russian companies and describe the role of their organizations in international trade and certification recognition mechanisms. The session will serve as a platform for experience sharing and solution-building, aimed at deeper integration of Russia into the global halal economy. The moderator will be Abbyas Hazrat Shlyaposhnikov, who noted that last year, many of the session’s recommendations were adopted by ministries and agencies.
Kazan Halal Market and Certification Achievements
As part of KazanForum 2025, the Kazan Halal Market — an international halal product fair — will be held at the Kazan Agro-Industrial Park. Experts from the Halal Standards Committee will conduct ingredient and product inspections for all fair participants.
In line with this year’s digitalization theme, Abbyas Hazrat shared updates on several halal-related digital projects, including: the “Halal Committee DUM RT” chatbot, the “I Want Halal” online platform, developed with the Committee’s participation
Global Recognition of Tatarstan’s Halal Standards
During the press conference, Abbyas Hazrat also announced that the Halal Standards Committee had received accreditation from Malaysia’s Department of Islamic Development (JAKIM). Previously, the Committee had been accredited by the Gulf countries, and its certificates are now recognized in South Africa, Oman, and Qatar. Moreover, SMIIC has issued international accreditation to the Committee. This growing international recognition will enable Tatarstan producers to access new export markets successfully.
