Historians put an end to the myth justifying  genocide of the Crimean Tatars

In Crimea, on the basis of the engineering and pedagogical university, a scientific council was convened, which created a working group to publish the book on  Crimean Tatars in the Service to the Fatherland. The group has been  headed by Professor Vladimir Polyakov. This was announced by State Duma deputy Ruslan Balbek, who initiated the project to restore historical justice.

– The content of the book should cover the participation of the Crimean Tatars in all Russian military campaigns for the entire period when the Crimean Tatars were part of the Russian Empire, as well as the USSR, up to 1945. In particular, along with documented events, the book should list by name all the Crimean Tatars – and that’s about 20 thousand people called up to join the Red / Soviet Army during the Great Patriotic War. Also, we will separately list partisans from among the Crimean Tatars – today it is known about 1209 people who fought in the Crimea from 1941-1944, – the Crimean politician wrote on his Facebook page. Balbek said that the purpose of the publication is to dispel the myth of mass betrayal, which served as a pretext for the deportation of an entire people during the Stalinist repression.

“In general, the book on a strictly scientific basis will once and for all put an end to the issue of non-existent mass betrayal by  the Crimean Tatars during the Great Patriotic War,” the deputy noted. The first chapters of the book about the period of the Great Patriotic War should be published as early as May 9, 2019.
