On December 11, the Museum of the History of Tatar Literature with the memorial apartment of Sharif Kamal, a branch of the National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan, will host the exhibition “Nostalgic / Sagyshly”, dedicated to the 165th anniversary of the Tatar poet Zakir Ramiev.
Zakir Ramiev, or Dirdmend, was one of the leading poets of the early 20th century, a philosopher, public figure, and patron of the arts. The exhibition is named after the poet’s pseudonym. “Dardmand” translates to “nostalgic”.
“This exhibition project reveals various facets of the poet’s longing: a poignant love for his homeland, sadness over departed youth, and the realization of the inevitable catastrophe of the upcoming revolution”, said House of Tatar Book head Aidar Shaikhin. “This bears special significance: an exhibition on nostalgia inspires optimism, and upon viewing it, one feels renewed and filled with a love for life”.
The exhibition will feature exhibits from the National Museum and private collections, including Zakir Ramiev’s personal belongings, such as his renowned traveling trunk and a field samovar. The exhibition will demonstrate that each commemorative item reflects the theme of noble nostalgia in its own way.
The exhibition will open on December 11 at 2:00 p.m. Admission to the opening is free. The exhibition will run until January 31, and it can be visited with a Museum ticket or Pushkin Card.
