In Almaty, at the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the third edition of the encyclopedia “The Tatars in Kazakhstan” has been presented. Publication of the collection is dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Assembly of Peoples of Kazakhstan.

The dictionary was compiled by the President of the Association of Tatars and Bashkirs of Kazakhstan, a member of the Academy of sciences of Kazakhstan, a renowned scholar, Professor Griff Khayrullin.

The publication presents a brief biography data of persons of Tatar nationality, living or residing in the territory of Kazakhstan. In total, the collection features more than 600 people. All these individuals are prominent members of the Tatar Diaspora, who contributed to the development of Kazakhstan.

The presentation was made by ex-minister of highways, ex-minister of transport and communication complex of

Kazakhstan Shamil Bekbulatov. He congratulated the author on publication of the dictionary, noting that the Tatar people is a very important issue. This is the basic source for the Tatar Encyclopaedia, he said.

The compiler himself said that to put together Kazakh Tatars, having scientific degrees, is rather difficult. Despite this, G. Khayrullin does not lose hope, and in the next edition he plans to cover all the Tatars living in Kazakhstan.
