Prankish and cheerful, young and slightly older super-grandmothers showed their talents on a traditional Tatar contest “Super-abi.”
The organizer of the festival was the Tatar department of Magnitogorsk House of Peoples’ Friendship with the support of Magnitogorsk city public organization of national cultural autonomy of Tatars “Tatar Rukhy.”
The contest “Super-abi” grandmothers of Magnitogorsk and surrounding areas took part. The program included several traditional stages: visit card, intellectual quiz, culinary duel, Tatar ritual and creative improvisation. Especially memorable for viewers was a holiday of spindle and a rite of plucking geese, which is still preserved in some of the Tatar villages. Active assistants of the contestants – their grandchildren – participated in all the creative tasks.
According to the organizers, this year among all participants was a notable contestant Nuria Mukhametshina. All her large close-knit family: husband, son, granddaughter and sister helped her to gain victory. Following the contest Nuria Mukhametshina was awarded the title “Super-abi-2015.” In addition, the jury determined the winners in several additional nominations. So, the most prankish grandmother became Rafila Khairutdinova, the most wonderful – Farzana Faizullina and most gifted – Radifa Alimova.
Competition for talented grandmothers was held in Magnitogorsk for the third consecutive year, and serves as a symbol of beauty, wisdom and femininity of Tatar women.
