In Moscow, the Russian premiere of the film “Nureyev. His scene is the whole world ”

September 29, in Moscow, the cinema “Karo October” will host the Russian premiere of the documentary “Nureyev. His scene is the whole world. ”

It will be held four days after the world premiere.

After the film, a public talk with the authors will take place: the film directors Jackie and David Morris come to the premiere, as well as the producer of the film Trevor Beatty.

According to the directors, “the life story of Rudolf Nureyev continues to excite and interest spectators who are keen on the art of dance, and 25 years after the death of the rebellious king of dance.” Despite the fact that Nureyev’s biography is described in detail in thick books (and films about him were also shot), the authors of the picture are sure that something new can be told about Rudolph. Morris found a unique video material, previously not known to a wide circle of admirers of Nureyev. These are the shots where he rehearses the ballets of contemporary choreographers – Martha Graham, Paul Taylor and Murray Louis.

The movie tells the biography of Nureyev, beginning with the impoverished Soviet childhood. The phenomenon of his  popularity, which contemporaries compared with Beatlemania, is being investigated. The actor himself often appears in the frame not only as a dancer, but also as a narrator. The film’s consultants were people who personally knew Rudolph – the famous ballerinas Gislen Tesmar, Alla Osipenko and Antoinette Sibley, choreographer Pierre Lacotte, Victor Hohhauser (a British producer who has worked for more than half a century with the Bolshoi and Mariinsky Theaters) and the oldest ballet critic of Britain Clement Crisp.

Music was written by composer Alex Baranovsky. The choreographer Russell Maliphant set the dance sketches for the film.
