Last Saturday, at the registry office of Nogliki region, a solemn registration of marriage with elements of old wedding ceremonies of Tatar folk wedding took place.

As described in the registry office of Nogliki region, an exhibition of books, photographs, CD discs “Tatar culture – a part of multinational Russia” was arranged in the foyer.

One of the corners of the banquet hall was decorated in the style of the Tatar hut: bench covered with a woven blanket, hand made doormat on the wall under the embroidered hand towel of the 19th century, Tatar national guardian, in the colors of the Tatar customs colorful brushes, a pillow, a prayer

mat. On a table covered with an old, early 20th century, the national green cloth, a samovar, honey and Tatar national dish chak-chak.

The groom Kryakvin Semen, ethnic Tatar, from village of Nogliki, the bride Barkhatova Ekaterina from – Russian city of Kholmsk with great pleasure accepted the invitation to

register their marriage in accordance with the national Tatar old wedding traditions and customs.

During registration ceremony, the customs of harboring bride from the groom under national handkerchief were applied, the treats from the groom’s parents to their matchmakers – the bride’s parents, old national dish chak-chak was offered, and in return they tasted Tatar tea, transfer of the bride by parents to the groom, the rite of lowering the hands of the bride in flour, the exchange of gifts between matchmakers, the exchange of gifts between the bride and groom. The groom gave the bride dress, scarf, jacket, chitek – boots with a heel, with a pattern of colored pieces of leather, and the bride gave the groom skullcap, pants and embroidered shirt. All the gifts were in the old traditional style.

Then the groom gave generous gifts and goodies to all present in the hall!

Immediately prior to the registration of marriage the bride performed the ceremony “trampling pillown” as a sign of a happy married life on the carpet, spread out in front of her friends. Smooth transition of gentle melodies Tatar joined the march sounds of Medelson.

Newlyweds traditionally put their signatures on the recording act of marriage, exchanged wedding rings, solemnly received the stamp certificate and a commemorative address by the regional governor A.V. Khoroshavina.

Parents congratulated the couple and handed them a barrel of honey – a symbol of the sweet, rich, well-fed and strong family life.

Congratulations from the honorary pensioner from Sakhalin Oblast Delyara Mukatdasovna Gysina, who sang songs in Tatar, from pensioner Galina Zinadovna Rakhmatullina, who gave the newlyweds a national dance, beautiful warm words from the chief of the municipal archive Lucia Muhametzanova, newlyweds were touched to tears.

A permanent part of people’s weddings, became a round dance, which led all the guests around the newlyweds when they danced their first dance, to protect them from harm, separations and tribulations.
