At the library of national literatures, in the framework of cultural and educational project “Tatar Guest’s Room”, organized by the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Tatarstan in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region, an evening with a journalist, writer and social activist Rahim Khalilovic Telyashov took place. The evening was attended by representatives of the Tatar community, artists and admirers of his works.

Much attention in his works R. Kh. Telyashov pays to a historical theme – a truthful coverage of the history and culture of the Tatar people. He is author of “The Golden Horde: polemical notes”, “From the Indians and the Huns to the Golden Horde.” At the meeting Rahim Khalilovic spoke about the work on a new book, dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Tatar community of St. Petersburg.

The writer also spoke about his meetings with famous Russian historian and orientalist Lev Gumilyov. Throughout his life, Rahim Telyashev collected interesting facts and materials about the life of Tatars in St. Petersburg, which he published in his previous articles and books.

The book is was sent to large libraries of St. Petersburg, Moscow, Kazan, to the libraries of a number of institutions and historical museums.

Also, R.Telyashov spoke about his works, which has been written earlier, the book “Tatars in the Great Patriotic War and the siege of Leningrad.” The book contains a lot of new and useful information, clearly tells about the history of St. Petersburg Tatars, their active participation in the destiny of the country, about their enormous contribution to the defense of a hero city of Leningrad from the Nazi invaders during the Great Patriotic War.
