In Ufa, a charity auction was held to benefit the Tatar Theater “Nur”

A pre-New Year charity auction took place at the Mariam Sultanova-Akchurina Discussion Club in Ufa. The auction featured paintings by Vakil Shaikhutdinov, rare book editions, ghee, and honey in various quantities.

Proceeds from the auction will go to support the children’s studio at the Ufa State Tatar Theater “Nur,” where young participants develop acting skills and make invaluable contributions to preserving and promoting Tatar culture.

By hosting this charity evening, members of the discussion club upheld the noble traditions of the woman after whom the organization is named:

“There is a rich history of supporting educational projects in Tatar philanthropy. We decided to follow, to some extent, the path of the woman whose name our discussion club carries. Historical records show that Mariam Sultanova-Akchurina founded a school-shelter for Tatar girls at the beginning of the 20th century and provided for their education and well-being.

She was one of the few patrons of her time and also served as the chairperson of the Ufa Muslim Women’s Society, which provided financial assistance and support to shelters for elderly men and young Muslim orphan boys,” explained Nafiga Akchurina, the chairperson of the discussion club.
