Restoration work is set to begin soon on the house where Tatar educator, scholar, and writer Kayum Nasyri was born and lived. The house is located in the village of Bolshie Achasyry in the Zelenodolsk district of Tatarstan. This was announced by Olesya Baltusova, an aide to the Rais (Head) of the Republic, following a site inspection of the property.
According to Baltusova, the meeting at the site covered the restoration plan and the preservation of the museum’s protected elements. She also noted the good condition of the log structure, which had been relocated from Shirdan, along with the stoves, windows, and doors.
“During the celebration of Nasyri’s 200th anniversary, it’s important to remember the remote places where he enjoyed living close to nature and reflecting in the quiet of a green garden,” Baltusova remarked.
In 2024, the Cabinet of Ministers of Tatarstan approved a program of events to mark the 200th anniversary of Kayum Nasyri, an outstanding Tatar scholar and educator. Six major events are planned, including the opening of an architectural and ethnographic complex named in his honor in Bolshie Achasyry, as well as a jubilee evening scheduled for February 2025.
