The Mufti’s address opened the scientific conference “Museum Epistemologies: Print and Intellectual Traditions from the Volga to the Caucasus,” held in honor of the 125th anniversary of the Karimov Brothers’ Printing House. The Mufti and the audience were welcomed by the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan Irada Ayupova and Acting Director General of the National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan Airat Fayzrakhmanov.
The audience of Kamil hazrat’s lecture included not only shakirds (students) and theologians from Kazan, but also professional theologians, art historians, museum specialists, and others. In addition, the audience learned about contemporary achievements of Kazan Islamic scholars in this area. In particular, Kamil hazrat spoke about the activities of DUM RT aimed at reviving and renewing the “Kazan Edition” mushaf and preparing the first modern handwritten Qur’an in Russia.
The lecture concluded with a question-and-answer session. Among the questions were proposals to organize exhibitions of Mufti Kamil hazrat’s personal collection of mushafs and inquiries about the history of creating the handwritten Qur’an of DUM RT.
