In the capital of Tatarstan, the plenary session of the regional stage of the 34th International Christmas Educational Readings, titled “Enlightenment and Morality: Personality Formation and the Challenges of the Time,” was held. The forum became an important event for discussing key issues of the spiritual and moral education of youth in modern society.
Among the distinguished guests were Metropolitan Kirill of Kazan and Tatarstan; Metropolitan Evgeny of Yekaterinburg and Verkhoturye, Chairman of the Synodal Department for Religious Education and Catechism of the Russian Orthodox Church; Bishop Methodius of Yegoryevsk, Rector of St. Tikhon’s Orthodox University of Humanities; and others.
Also among the honored guests was the Mufti of Tatarstan, Kamil Hazrat Samigullin. He greeted the participants of the conference, emphasized the importance of preserving Russia’s spiritual sovereignty in strengthening the unity of its citizens, and added that educational efforts carried out by the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Republic of Tatarstan (DUM RT) and the Kazan Diocese help counter the promotion of values being imposed from outside.
