On November 29, 1991, the Supreme Council of the Republic of Tatarstan adopted the modern flag of Tatarstan as one of the state symbols of the republic.
The flag is a rectangular three-color canvas with an aspect ratio of 1: 2. The green color of the flag symbolizes the greens of spring and rebirth. Also, green is the color of Islam. White color on a flag cloth symbolizes purity, and red color – maturity, energy, force and life.
Officially, this day is not celebrated in the republic, but it is a historical moment both for Tatarstan and for all the Tatars of the world.
The author of the flag Tavil Khaziahmetov, national artist of the Republic of Tatarstan, a laureate of the G. Tukai State Award.
