Old books found in the village of Oshnyak donated to the Kazan Madrasah commemorating the 1000th Anniversary of the adoption of Islam

During the holy month of Ramadan, Rustem Gainetdinov, Advisor to the Head of the Executive Committee of the World Congress of Tatars, donated old books to the Kazan Madrasah commemorating the 1000th anniversary of the adoption of Islam. These books were discovered in the village of Oshnyak in the Alekseevsky district of Tatarstan by a local resident, Minzifa Vazykhova, during the demolition of an old house.

Initial assessments indicate that these are religious publications printed between the late 19th and early 20th centuries. In addition to around a dozen old books, numerous loose-leaf texts were also included in the donation. Ilyas-hazrat Ziganshin, director of the madrasah and imam-khatib of the “Rozovaya” mosque, pledged to work on preserving and studying the books and texts to determine their significance as part of the spiritual heritage.

“During my student years, I had the opportunity to handle ancient books and manuscripts. I still vividly remember the sense of wonder I felt when coming into contact with the legacy of past centuries. I hope that the students of the madrasah will also experience this extraordinary feeling,” said Rustem Gainetdinov.
