On world theatre day, winners of the “Theatrical Volga Region” festival to be announced

On March 27, World Theatre Day, the regions of the Volga Federal District will announce the winners of the 7th season of the Festival of Children’s and Youth Theatre Groups “Theatrical Volga Region.” The ceremony will take place via an online broadcast with participation from all regions of the district.

This season, the Republic of Tatarstan is represented at the district stage of the festival by:

  • in the nomination “Youth Theatre Groups and Studios” — the theatre group “Stroyotryadovtsy,” based at the Republican Center of Student Labor Teams, with the performance “All of Us…”;

  • in the nomination “Children’s Theatre Groups and Studios” — the children’s Tatar theatre studio “Apush” with the performance “Theatre at Mäkärjä Fair” (“Once at the Fair”).

In the 7th season, the organizing committee of the “Theatrical Volga Region” Festival received 150 applications from amateur theatre groups of the Republic of Tatarstan in the categories “Youth Theatre Groups and Studios” (ages 18–35) and “Children’s Theatre Groups and Studios” (ages 6–17). Additionally, 271 applications were submitted by residents of Tatarstan for the poster and playbill competition held as part of the festival.

“The district Festival of Children’s and Youth Theatre Groups ‘Theatrical Volga Region’ is held annually to encourage the development of theatre arts among children and young people, as well as to broaden their cultural horizons. Among our key objectives in implementing the festival in the Republic of Tatarstan is to involve as many young people as possible in theatre activities, both as active participants and as audience members,” noted Damir Natfullin, Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan.

In total, 28 performances—two from each of the 14 regions of the Volga Federal District—have reached the final of the project. Video versions of all finalist performances are available on the official festival website under the “Finalists” section.

The “Theatrical Volga Region” Festival is held with the support of the Office of the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Volga Federal District, under the patronage of Igor Komarov, and aligns with the goals and objectives of the national project “Youth and Children.”
