At the concert hall “Molodezhny (Youth)”, on Wednesday, February 19, 2014, a report meeting was held on the results of activities of the Tatar national-cultural autonomy of the Penza region in 2013.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Tatar community, the Muslim clergy, public authorities of the Penza region. An exhibition- sale “Sursk Tatars ” where visitors could purchase products made by Tatar masters, culinary and meat products , souvenirs and books was arranged for the guests in the lobby.

According to members of the regional Tatar national-cultural autonomy, the main purpose of the organization – to help each individual Tatar of the Penza region to preserve his language, culture, traditions and beliefs. The Autonomy has done a great job over the past year, today it has a website, publishes newspapers in Tatar, supports creative teams, set up a women’s council and youth organization.

Last year, with a great success, a regional contest “I love you, my native land ” took place in which about 400 students studying the history of the Tatar people had participated. In addition, in 2013, in Penza, a conference “Penza region Tatars” was held. In close future, Tatar Sunday school begins its work where children will learn Tatar language.

The authority members expressed particular gratitude to the Governor of the Penza region Vasily Bochkarev for support and assistance in dealing with crucial issues.

In 2014, regional Tatar national-cultural autonomy plans to hold more than 100 different events in the Penza region. In conclusion, the gathered in the hall, watched a concert featuring Tatar art collectives.

Today, in 52 villages of the Penza live more than 100,000 Tatars.
