The delegation of Tatarstan headed by President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov visited the square named after I. Gabdulla Tukay, which was handed over after reconstruction.
The park was opened in May 2011 as part of the celebrations dedicated to the 125th anniversary of the birth of the great Tatar poet Gabdulla Tukai. The monument was erected a year later. The author of the monument is the famous Kazan artist-sculptor Asiya Minnullina. Gabdulla Tukay is depicted sitting on a bench with an ink pen in his hands.
In 2018, the Mayor’s Office of Istanbul began a project to lay a new tram line along the Golden Horn Bay, including through the territory of the park named after. G. Tukay. As part of the reconstruction, the monument was carefully re-installed, and the park was landscaped.
