On 23 October upon his arrival to the Kazan International Airport the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who came to Tatarstan to take part in events of the BRICS Summit, was welcomed by the Rais (Head) of the republic Rustam Minnikhanov.

In September of the current year the Administration of Turkey announced that they submitted an official application to join the BRICS and the decision on Turkey will be taken by the whole interstate amalgamation.

The BRICS Summit is held in Kazan from 22 to 24 October. The intergovernmental amalgamation was established in 2006, comprising Russia, Brazil, India, China and the SAR, with Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, the UAE and Saudi Arabia having joined it in January of the current year.
