The Russian Ethnographic Museum of St. Petersburg hosted a meeting of Renat Valiullin, the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Tatarstan in the city of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, with the museum director Vladimir Grusman.
At the meeting, the exposition of the museum devoted to everyday life, culture and traditional occupations of the Tatar people was discussed, which is being prepared for opening on an ongoing basis.
In turn, Renat Valiullin presented the Museum with a Book of Memory. We came to help you, a besieged Leningrad. In memory of the fallen Tatarstan warriors ”, which was released at the beginning of this year and keeps the memory of 18,467 soldiers – natives and residents of Tatarstan, who died in battles, died in hospitals and in captivity in the territory of the present Leningrad region during the Second World War.
The Russian Museum of Ethnography is located in the center of St. Petersburg, on Arts Square, in a single architectural complex with the Russian Museum. The exposition of the museum is dedicated to the peoples of Russia and neighboring countries, in the halls of which one can get acquainted with the original culture of the most diverse peoples of the old and new Russia, their way of life, customs, worldview; make sure they are similar and distinctive at the same time.
Today the Russian Museum of Ethnography is one of the largest ethnographic museums in the world. It is no coincidence that foreign colleagues called it the “Ethnographic Hermitage”. It stores 500 thousand ethnographic items for 157 numerous and small nations of Russia since the 18th century.
