On 2 September the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and the State Counselor of the republic Mintimer Shaimiev visited the Kara Urman (Dark Forest) film demonstration in the M. Djalil Opera and Ballet Theatre in Kazan.
The film was directed by Radik Kudoyarov and its plot is based on real events of life of Tatar hero-poet Musa Djalil during the WWII.
The classic of Tatar poetry Musa Djalil was conscripted in the Red Army in 1941 and imprisoned in June 1942. He was kept in Fascist camps in Poland, Baltic countries and Germany and for two years took an active part in clandestine activities of war prisoners against Fascists in the rear. In August 1944 Musa Djalil together with his ten comrades was executed in the Platzensee prison in Berlin.
