On 23 October the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov as a member of a Russian delegation took part in a meeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin with the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan organized on the sidelines of the second day of the BRICS Summit in Kazan.

Turkey is one of the leading foreign partners of Tatarstan and Turkish companies have invested about 2bn US dollars into the republic, having built a number of modern plants and hotels.

Last year the trade turnover between Tatarstan and Turkey demonstrated the growth by 2.5 times and reached 2.9bn US dollars.
