Today the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, took part in the Tatar national Sabantuy holiday as part of his working visit to the Altai Krai.
The event was organized on the territory of the tourist and recreational zone “Biryuzovaya(Turquoise) Katun”. The holiday was also attended by acting Governor – Chairman of the Altai Krai Government Viktor Tomenko and Head of the Government of the Altai Republic Alexander Berdnikov.
Solemn opening of the holiday began with a theatrical performance, during which the audience was told about the history of Sabantuy, the peculiarities of his celebration.
Welcoming the audience, Rustam Minnikhanov noted that today Sabantuy is celebrated in 57 regions of Russia and 30 countries of the world. “Our country is multinational and multi-confessional, each people has the opportunity to show their traditions, customs and culture,” the President of the Republic of Tatarstan said.
Rustam Minnikhanov thanked the leadership of the Altai Krai for the opportunity to host Sabantuy, and also addressed words of gratitude to all who took part in the organization of the holiday.
Then Rustam Minnikhanov conveyed the gratitude of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan to the residents of Altai, who made a significant contribution to the preservation and development of the culture and traditions of the Tatar people. And to the leaders of the Altai Territory and the Republic of Altai Rustam Minnikhanov handed chapan – traditional Tatar clothes.
Addressing the guests of the holiday, Victor Tomenko emphasized that for a thousand years Sabantuy symbolized the generosity and hospitality of the Tatar people. “This holiday is characterized by the wisdom, experience of the older generation, as well as the energy and strength of the younger generation. It is a fusion of rich history, culture and traditions, “said the Governor of the Altai Territory.
Altai Krai and the Republic of Tatarstan are linked by long and good relations, said Victor Tomenko: “The Sabantuy holiday has been celebrated in the Altai Territory since 1994. We will continue this wonderful tradition. ”

After that, Rustam Minnikhanov, Viktor Tomenko and Alexander Berdnikov visited the Tatar national farmstead, organized by the Zainsky municipal district of the Republic of Tatarstan.
During the meeting with the media, Rustam Minnikhanov noted that over the past few years the tourist area of Altai has changed significantly, much has been done to develop infrastructure and attract private investment. “There is a direct flight from Kazan to Barnaul. Now we are discussing the organization of a direct air service to Gorno-Altaisk. I think this is very important. In order to open all this beauty, you need affordable logistics, “he added.
