On June 23, Kazan will feature the Tatar national holiday Sabantui. At 9.30, the celebration will begin at the same time in the villages of Mirny and Derbyshki, at the forest-park zone of Lake Lebyazhye, and continue at the Kazan hippodrome. Guests of the holiday will be able to try their hand at national games and watch the contests of the best batyrs of Tatarstan in the national fight koresh. Absolute champions of the tournament will receive the main prize – a ram and a car.
Popular Tatar pop artists, Aidar Suleymanov and Danir Sabirov, will perform on the central Maidan in the Birch Grove of the settlement of Mirny, and the main guest of the festival will be the Turetsky Choir, which has prepared a special concert program. Also, in the dramatized prologue the best dance and vocal groups from all over the republic will perform.
After a five-year break, the festivities, according to numerous requests from Kazan, open-air merry-making on the maidan of the Birch Grove in the village of Derbyshki festive will be held. Here for Kazan and guests of the capital a theatrical performance “Kazan Solges” (“Kazan towels”) will unfold. Creative groups, soloists and choreographic ensembles of the city will take part in it. The headliner of the holiday in Derbyshki will be the People’s Artist of Tatarstan and Honored Artist of Russia Salavat Fatkhutdinov and Tatar pop stars Salavat Minnekhanov and Guzel.
On the main stage in the forest park zone of the Lebyaze lake for the guests of the festival will perform well-known artists of the Tatar stage: Zainab Farhetdinova, Alsou and Azat Fazlyev, Rayaz Fasikhov and others. In addition to the concert program and traditional competitions at this site, they will prepare a separate zone dedicated to the world championship WorldSkills Kazan 2019. Here, young professionals will demonstrate their skills in various championship competencies.
Traditional equestrian competitions will take place at the Kazan hippodrome, including with the participation of unique Akhal-Teke horses. The program includes 13 races and a concert.
Summer cafes and retail outlets will operate at each site in Sabantuy. Anyone can buy souvenirs, Tatar national culinary products and handicrafts.
