On June 4 Tatars and Bashkirs from all over Switzerland will gather together in Geneva to celebrate Sabantui. The holiday has been celebrated here for several years, for example, for the first time Tatars and Bashkirs from France, Italy, Germany, Great Britain and various cities of Switzerland, and of course Tatarstan and Bashkortostan, came to Switzerland for the first time.
The Tatar-Bashkir Sabantui passes according to all national traditions. Guests can eat national delicacies, which they so miss outside their native places. Undoubtedly, this is the Tatar chak-chak and kystyby, and Bashkir honey. It is impossible for Sabantui to do without sports for adults and children, among which the most unusual and bright, of course, is the wrestling Koresh. By the way, in Switzerland, the national wrestling Schwingen very much resembles the Koresh.
Guests will be offered a rich concert program, in which Tatar songs will be performed. To the Swiss Sabantui from Tatarstan and Bashkiria will come:
– Aigul Hayri (Taby) – Tatar vocal (Kazan);
– Ensemble “Miraz” (Tatarstan);
– Gulnur Karabulatova – vocals (Bashkortostan);
Of course, there will be artists from Switzerland – dancers, vocalists with compositions in Tatar, Bashkir and Russian. One will not do without a native sound of kurai.
Sabantui not only unites the Tatars and Bashkirs of Switzerland, but also allows us to acquaint with our centuries-old culture and support for our traditions. The holiday usually gathers natives of Russia and the CIS, who live in Switzerland and locals. Therefore, the Association of Bashkirs and Tatars of Switzerland is important to represent Tatarstan at the highest level. In fact, Tatars living in different parts of the world are living bearers of the brand Visit Tatarstan and ambassadors of Tatarstan abroad.
I would like to note that the national holiday Sabantui is organized on the initiative and funds of the non-profit association of Tatars and Bashkirs of Switzerland “Yuldash”, founded in 2015, and with the assistance of the trade and economic representation of Tatarstan. The holiday would not have been successful without the support of friends and partner associations of Russian-speaking diasporas living in Switzerland, as well as the restaurant “Silk Road”, in whose park all the celebrations and sports take place.
