On August 9, in the village of Saklovo, the annual gathering of Muslims of the Agryz district, Saklau Zhyeny (“Gathering for Preservation”), will take place. The event will be held near the village mosque, which is a historical and architectural monument and the only stone mosque in the district that has survived to this day (it is under state protection).
The Saklau Zhyeny is attended by imams and abystays (female religious teachers), instructors of the basics of Islam, active Muslims of the Agryz Muhtasibat, as well as muhtasibs from neighboring districts, public figures, and fellow believers from the Kirov region and the city of Izhevsk.
As part of the event, a vaaz (religious sermon) will be delivered by the Chief Qadi of Tatarstan, Jalil Hazrat Fazlyev.
The main purpose of the gathering is to foster a careful and respectful attitude toward religion and the old mosques passed down as an amanat (sacred trust) from our ancestors, as well as to create opportunities for Muslims to meet and strengthen Islam.
The history of the Saklau Zhyeny dates back to 2005. In the Agryz district, the first meeting was organized by Mukhametazat Hazrat Gatin, who was serving as the imam-muhtasib at that time. The mosques in the villages of Saklovo and Stary Kyzyl-Yar are notable for having been preserved intact during the Soviet period.
