Saratov prepares for the All-Russian Quran recitation competition

Active preparations are underway in Saratov for the 4th All-Russian Quran Recitation Competition in memory of philanthropist Eduard-Haji Ganeev. The event is scheduled for February 12, 2025, and will once again be held at the Saratov Conservatory named after Sobinov.

The competition is organized by the Spiritual Administration of Muslims (SAM) of the Volga Region and the SAM of Saratov Region, in partnership with OKPO “Vozrozhdenie” and the women’s Muslim organization “Rodnik”.

In 2024, the competition highlighted the Quranic knowledge of Muslim women. Following tradition, this year’s event will feature male participants.

The competition is expected to welcome participants from 15 regions, with a total of at least 30 contestants. There will be two categories for participants: “Hifz” (complete memorization of the Quran) and “10 Juz” (recitation of the last 10 chapters).

The organizers have outlined specific eligibility criteria. For the “Hifz” category, individuals who have previously competed in international Quran recitation competitions or placed in the top three positions at national competitions are not eligible to participate.

The  “10 Juz” category also has restrictions: participants must be under 20 years of age, and individuals who are hafiz (those who have memorized the entire Quran) are not eligible to compete.

The competition will take place in the Grand Hall of the Conservatory, which seats over 400 people. Last year’s event was held in the smaller Theater Hall.

All are welcome to attend and experience the beauty of Quranic recitation. Additionally, a special prize draw for a pilgrimage trip to Hajj will be held for attendees.
