Today, May 18, the traditional event “Izge Bolgar Jieny” is taking place in Bolgar, dedicated to the Day of the Official Adoption of Islam by Volga Bulgaria. The official opening ceremony was held in the square between the Memorial Sign and the Cathedral Mosque.

The participants were welcomed by the Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov.

“Tatarstan is proud of its unique experience of interfaith and interethnic harmony, which we carefully preserve and pass on to future generations. The revival of Bolgar is not just about restoring historical memory, but also a symbol of our commitment to progress. We continue on this path, preserving and enhancing our traditional spiritual and moral values,” he stated.

The event was also attended by Vasil Shaykhraziev, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan and Chairman of the National Council of the World Congress of the Tatars, Danis Shakirov, Head of the Executive Committee of the World Congress of the Tatars, delegates of the All-Russian Forum of Religious Leaders, representatives of Muslim religious administrations from Russia and abroad, members of Muslim communities from around the world.
