A Sunday school for the study of the Tatar language has been successfully operating in the Surgut National Cultural Autonomy of the Tatars for many years. Every Sunday, children and adults come to school to plunge into the Tatar environment.

“I think it is very important to put a grain of love for а language, traditions and customs in every student,” says Alsu Gainetdinova, a Sunday school teacher.

One of the students, Venera Valiullina, shared that in childhood there was no opportunity to learn her native language. She has been living in Siberia since she was 8 years old.

“Alsu Rafailovna explains not only the language, but also the grammar, rules and spelling of the Tatar language. I am studying here for the second year. My nine–year-old daughter Dilara is also studying here, she began to understand the language very well,” said Venera Valiullina.
