In the second half of 2024, free Tatar language courses were organized in the Udmurt Republic. These courses were organized by the Tatar Public Center of Udmurtia with the support of the Ministry of National Policy of the Udmurt Republic. The courses were held in 10 groups.
In Izhevsk, the courses took place at the Central Mosque, the Musa Jalil Library, the Mosque in the city of Mozhga, in the village of Balezino, in the city of Glazov, at the Sarapul Muhtasibat, and at the Tatar Cultural Center. They were also held at the Kamskaya Model Library in the village of Kama in the Kambar district, and at the Rural Cultural Center in the village of Baisary in the Kiyasovsky district. A total of 231 people attended the courses.
The Tatar language courses are open to everyone and are organized into different age groups. The groups are divided into the following categories: preschoolers aged 3-4, 5-6, those who can read and write, schoolchildren, and adults.
For beginners, the course starts with the alphabet, Tatar letters, and sounds. Classes are taught using textbooks, learning materials, and Tatar folk tales. In children’s groups, lessons are also taught in a playful manner.
These courses are one of the ways to preserve the Tatar language. The course program focuses on learning conversational Tatar. Additionally, students learn about the history, culture, literature, and traditions of the Tatar people.
Students and graduates of the courses participate in city and regional cultural events and competitions. They also actively participate in contests held in the Republic of Tatarstan.
The courses have proven to be effective and have generated significant interest in the native Tatar language.
