From April 25 to 30, Kazan hosts the “Tatarstan Film Week” with film screenings and creative meetings. As the press service of the State Television and Radio Company of the Republic of Tatarstan “Tatarkino” reports, the program included films of a broad genre palette: comedy short films, full-length dramas based on classical works of literature, documentary films about significant events. These are the works by famous Tatarstan directors – Ildar Yagafarov, Salavat Yuzeyev, Alexei Barykin, Farid Davletshin, as well as young authors – Yulia Zakharova, Rustam Rashitov, Ilshat Rahimbay, Baibulat Batullin and Aydar Gabdrakhmanov.
The state institution “Tatarkino” initiated this project not only for the purpose of demonstrating the achievements of local filmmakers: “The Week of Tatarstan Cinema” is the launch of a large-scale movement to popularize the cinematography of the republic, not only in Tatarstan, but also far beyond its borders.
For a week the viewer could see how the cinematography of Tatarstan has developed over the past 15 years. The Mir cinema showed retrospectives of films by Tatarstan filmmakers and pictures of young authors created over the past two years. Many of these films have already received recognition at the Russian and international level.
“It’s a pleasure to watch these beautiful pictures on the big screen! – says the director of “Tatarkino” Milyausha Ajtuganova. – Many of our viewers were glad to see their native cinema again. In addition, to the beginning cinematographers of Tatarstan, we absolutely provided free of charge the opportunity to show our films to a wide audience. And most importantly, we introduced our local viewer to the filmmakers. I wanted them to look into each other’s eyes. And they also found each other. ”
