On April 8, a teleconference was held at the Republican Media Center “SakhaMedia” connecting Tatar community organizations from the Olyokminsky and Neryungri municipal districts of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).

The meeting was opened by Danis Shakirov, Head of the Executive Committee of the World Congress of the Tatars and Deputy of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan. On behalf of Vasil Shaykhraziev, Deputy Prime Minister of Tatarstan and Chairman of the National Council of the World Congress of the Tatars, Shakirov welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of maintaining strong ties between the Tatar and Sakha peoples. He also spoke about preparations underway for the upcoming Sabantuy, the traditional national celebration.

The event was attended by Afanasy Noev, Minister of Culture and Spiritual Development of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia); Viktor Kolesov, CEO of the Republican Information and Publishing Holding “SakhaMedia”; Igor Khalilov, Chair of the public organization “Tugan Yak” Tatar Cultural Center in the Republic of Sakha; and Sergey Shcheblyakov, Mayor of Olyokminsk.

Speaking about the historical presence of Tatars in the city, Mayor Shcheblyakov expressed his full support for organizing the upcoming Sabantuy festival, highlighting its cultural significance and the continued friendship between the peoples.
