The 12th “Ghylem Nury” Contest Held in Leninogorsk

On the 28th day of the month of Shawwal (April 26), the 12th “Ghylem Nury” Contest was held at the “Ikhlas” Mosque in Leninogorsk. The event was organized by the Leninogorsk Mukhtasibat under the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Republic of Tatarstan (DUM RT).

Purpose of the Contest

The main goal of the contest is to:

  • Strengthen the traditions of the Hanafi madhhab and Maturidi aqidah,

  • Consolidate the knowledge gained during mosque-based religious courses,

  • Encourage interest in the spread of Islamic knowledge among the general population.

The contest also fosters experience sharing and strengthens the bonds of brotherhood among Muslims.

Opening Ceremony

On behalf of the Mufti of Tatarstan, Kamil Hazrat Samigullin, the participants were greeted by his First Deputy, Ilfar Hazrat Khasanov, who emphasized the importance of acquiring and disseminating knowledge. The Chief Qadi of the Republic, Jalil Hazrat Fazlyev, delivered an insightful and instructive sermon (waaz).

Participants

Contestants came from all across Tatarstan, including districts such as: Aznakayevo, Bavly, Bugulma, Almetyevsk, Muslyumovo, Sarmanovo, Kukmor, Yutaza, Cheremshan, Nurlat, Baltasi, Novosheshminsk, Arsk, Yelabuga, Leninogorsk, Tukaevo.

A total of 16 teams took part. Notably, these teams represented female religious instructors (abystai) who had studied in mosque-based courses from October to May.

Contest Format

The competition consisted of three stages. This year, the assignments were based on classical works published by Khozur Publishing House of DUM RT, including:

  • “Qalam Sharif. Semantic Translation”

  • “Muallim Sani” by A. Maksudi

  • “Fundamentals of the Islamic Religion”

  • Biographies of the Prophets

Despite the difficulty of the questions, the participants demonstrated a high level of knowledge and erudition.

Results

The teams that won their semifinal rounds and advanced to the finals were from the following districts: Bugulma, Yutaza, Aznakayevo, Yelabuga, Kukmor, Almetyevsk.

The Yelabuga Mukhtasibat team earned the highest score and was declared the winner of the competition.

Awards

  • The winning team received the Challenge Cup, diplomas, and valuable prizes.

  • All participants were presented with gifts, certificates, and flower bouquets.
