From August 16 to 18, the Bolgar State Historical and Architectural Museum-Reserve will host the festival “Spiritual Unity of Russia – a Message to the World!”
During the festival, Bolgar will also host the VI Ethno-cultural festival “Aga Bazar”.
“Aga Bazar” will unite creative collectives, solo performers, and instrumentalists, promoting folk culture.
The festival’s centerpiece will be a stylized medieval Bulgar market, “Aga Bazar”, featuring trade rows showcasing unique handcrafted goods from the best artisans in the Republic of Tatarstan and regions of Russia, as well as thematic platforms, craft workshops, and creative classes on folk crafts and arts.
On August 16, as part of the Festival “Spiritual Unity of Russia – a Message to the World!”, an open-air screening of the legendary opera “Kara Pulat” (“The Black Chamber”) will take place on the grounds of the Bolgar State Historical and Architectural Museum-Reserve.
The opera’s plot is based on a Tatar legend about twelve girls who were burned by Tamerlane’s soldiers.
The performance of “Kara Pulat” is scheduled for 8:30 PM. Admission is free.
On August 17, as part of the Festival “Spiritual Unity of Russia – a Message to the World!”, a round table discussion titled “Preservation and Development of Ethno-Cultural Heritage: Tradition, Fashion and Design” will be held in Bolgar.
The event will take place at 11:00 AM in the building of the Monument sign located in the Bolgar Museum-Reserve. All are welcome to join the round table by registering for the event.
As part of the Festival “Spiritual Unity of Russia – a Message to the World!”, the Museum of Bulgar Civilization will present the Arabic calligraphy exhibition “Kalem-Garabi Kalem”. The exhibition aims to showcase the distinctive features of Islamic art and pass on calligraphy experience and skills to preserve and develop one of the most important components of the centuries-old Tatar heritage.
Also, during the Festival in Bolgar, there will be musical performances by the ethno-music collective “Kadim Әlmәt” (Almetyevsk), a jam session featuring folk songs performed by Malsi Music, performances by Honored Artist of Russia, poet Vlad Malenko (Moscow), the group “Otyken” (Krasnoyarsk), the State Chamber Choir of the Republic of Tatarstan under the direction of People’s Artist of the Republic of Tatarstan Milyausha Tamindarova, the folk group “Zakaria” (Kazan), and a tribute to Ilgam Shakirov performed by Ilgiz, Elvira, and Yummy Music Band.
The unique Festival “Spiritual Unity of Russia – a Message to the World!” began at the end of July in Sviyazhsk and will continue from August 16 to 18 in Bolgar.
