The anniversary “Tatarcha diktant” will take place in Tatarstan on 14 November

The anniversary “Tatarcha diktant” will be held from 14 to 16 November. The organizers shared details about the event during a press conference at “Tatar-inform”.

Offline venues will be organized across regions of Russia, districts of Tatarstan, as well as abroad. An electronic form will be available for online participants.

Participation in the campaign is free of charge. Anyone may take part regardless of age, gender, education, religion, profession, family status, or interests.

“An element of the national code is, first and foremost, the language,” noted Danis Shakirov, Deputy of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan and Head of the Executive Committee of the World Congress of Tatars.

Today, “Tatarcha diktant” is one of the most effective ways to spark people’s interest in the language. Participants will write adapted excerpts from Kayum Nasyri’s “Qabusname” and “Abughalisina”, as well as a passage from Muhammad Magdeev’s travel notes “Six Continents on Earth.”

The selected texts differ in difficulty level. The most challenging passages will be written in Tatarstan and Bashkortostan, while the easiest ones will be used abroad. Last year, the dictation could be written in Latin script, but this year submissions will be accepted only in Cyrillic.

Dictation venues have been registered in 68 regions of Russia and 26 foreign countries, including CIS states, Egypt, Italy, France, Hungary, Germany, and several others.

In Tatarstan, the dictation will be written on 14 November at 10:00 a.m. The main venue in Kazan will be the conference hall of the Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication at Kazan Federal University. In the other regions of Russia, the dictation will take place on 15 November, and abroad on 16 November.

In Kazan, the texts will be checked by specialists of the Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication, while submissions from other regions will be checked by local organizers. One month is allotted for checking the works.

The event is organized by the World Forum of Tatar Youth, the World Congress of Tatars, the Ministry of Youth Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan, and Kazan Federal University.
