Tatar national poet, literary critic, publicist, public figure and translator Gabdulla Tukai in 1886. He is considered one of the founders of the Tatar literature. Tukai died at 26 years due to ill health and was buried in the cemetery of Novo-Tatar of Tatar settlement in Kazan. A series of squares and streets have been named after name and a lot of monuments to him have been installed.
