A series of events under the republican project “Kürşe Fest” has kicked off in Nurlat, with the large-scale courtyard celebration “Biyu Fest” as the opening act. The event took place in the courtyard of House No. 1 on Karl Marx Street and brought together residents from all over the city.
The project “Kürşelär – iñ yaqın keşelär” (“Neighbors – The Closest People”), initiated by the autonomous non-profit organization “Constellation of Nurlat” Center for Support of Social Projects and Initiatives (authored by Rezeda Ginyayeva), became one of the winners of the “Kürşe Fest” competition. Its aim is to strengthen neighborly relations among residents of seven apartment buildings on Karl Marx, Gagarin, and Salimzhanov streets.
At the official opening of Biyu Fest, participants were welcomed by the head of the Nurlat district, Damir Ishkineyev, who emphasized the significance of this grassroots project, initiated by Rustam Minnikhanov.
“I’m confident that all activities within the Kürşelär – iñ yaqın keşelär project will be just as unifying. You can see how the courtyards of Nurlat are transforming: under the Our Yard program, 108 yards have been renovated, 15 of them this year alone. In parallel, major repairs of apartment buildings are underway, and new public spaces are being created — all for your comfort. Courtyard celebrations are meant to unite you, bring you closer, and strengthen neighborly ties. I wish for these spaces to become areas of community activity!” said Damir Azatovich.
Damir Ishkineyev also presented Letters of Appreciation from Rustam Minnikhanov to active citizens of Nurlat for their contributions to the Our Yard program, as well as for their enthusiasm, engagement, and proactive stance.
Biyu Fest became a true celebration of live communication, collective creativity, and heartfelt traditions for Nurlat residents of all ages. Children happily took part in games with animators, sports competitions, and quizzes on the history and culture of their hometown. Volunteer platforms such as “Everything for Victory Nurlat” and the Center for Active Longevity and Health attracted much attention with their variety of workshops.
The highlight of the festival was a Tatar dance masterclass. Led by choreographer Nadezhda Khvorostyeva from the “Sälät” Children’s School of Arts and members of the “Forget-Me-Nots” dance group, local residents learned the basics of national dance and then performed together for the audience. This unifying dance brought together people of different ages and nationalities. Guests enjoyed hot tea, a warm concert featuring local talent, numerous contests, and prize giveaways — with dance competitions being especially popular.
According to project author Rezeda Ginyayeva, two more events will be held in Nurlat under the Kürşelär – iñ yaqın keşelär project. A competition will also be held to identify the most outstanding participants among the residents of the participating buildings.
The announced contests include:
-
“Most Beautiful Garden”
-
“Best Building Manager”
-
“Most Musical Neighbors”
-
“Most Dance-Loving Neighbors”
-
“Milli Rizyk” (“Most Hospitable Neighbors”)
-
“Most Friendly Entrance”
-
“Best Chess Player”
Winners will receive honorary certificates and cash vouchers. A commemorative plaque will be placed on the most friendly building, and the best house will receive a special prize — either a courtyard bench or a chess table set with the Kurshe logo.
