The Altai Regional Public Organization Dulqyn (Wave) Center of Tatar Culture has published a new book dedicated to the organization’s activities. The book, which shares the same name as the center, is timed to coincide with its 25th anniversary. Previously, two photo albums devoted to the center’s work and history were published in 2020 and 2023.
In total, work on the book took more than three years. During the process of collecting materials, numerous previously unpublished photographs and documents were discovered. Media publications, memoirs, and biographies were studied, and dozens of movement veterans and current activists were interviewed or surveyed.
Over the past quarter century, more than a hundred people have been involved as activists and volunteers of the Center. People of different generations and nationalities—Tatars, Bashkirs, Kazakhs, Kyrgyz, Russians, Ukrainians—came together for a common cause. Many activists have since passed away or retired, but their work lives on.
The book is divided into two major sections. The first presents the history of the Tatar Culture Center, its key activities and projects, while the second contains biographies of its activists. The publication includes photographs that reflect the main stages of this long journey.
The book was produced with funding from a subsidy allocated for the implementation of informational and publishing projects aimed at ethnocultural development, interethnic cooperation, and strengthening the unity of the Russian nation as part of the regional program Implementation of State National Policy in the Altai Region.
