On March 2nd, on the main stage of the G. Kamal Tatar State Academic Theater, the Kazan State Conservatory will present the legendary opera “Jalil” by Nazib Zhiganov.
The opera “Jalil,” created with a libretto by Akhmed Faizi, is dedicated to the life and heroic feat of the outstanding Tatar poet and Hero of the Soviet Union, Musa Jalil. While imprisoned by the Nazis, he led an underground anti-fascist struggle. The poet’s thoughts are filled with pain and hope, but his captivity is complicated by the fact that his homeland considers him a traitor.
The Kazan Conservatory is dedicating this production—one of the most important events of the Conservatory’s current creative season—to two memorable anniversaries: the 115th anniversary of the birth of Nazib Zhiganov and the 120th anniversary of the birth of Musa Jalil.
Performers: Opera Studio, Choir, and Symphony Orchestra of the Kazan Conservatory. Soloists: Aigiz Khaidarshin (Jalil), Syumbel Kiyamova (The Poet’s Wife), and others.
The choir of the Secondary Special Music School at the conservatory will also take part in the performance. The Artistic Director of the Opera Studio is Professor Alfiya Zapparova. The Music Director and Conductor of the production is Professor Rinat Khalitov.
