Obsessed. Furious. Daring. A brilliant virtuoso with exotic appearance, he was the brightest dancer of the 20th century. It was he who made a real revolution in the field of male dance.
His duet with the legendary Margot Fontaine belongs to the record in the Guinness Book on number of calls for a bow – after the performance “Swan Lake” at the Vienna State Opera in 1964, the curtain rose more than eighty times!
It was impossible to get to his performances – people pitched tents near the buildings of opera houses and were on duty for several days, dreaming to get a ticket for the performance.
In honor of the anniversary of Rudolf Nureyev, the stars of world ballet will gather on the stage of the State Kremlin Palace. The best representatives of the classical men’s dance of the present day will take part in the concert, including Semyon Chudin (Bolshoi Theater of Russia), Vadim Muntagirov (Covent Garden), Denis Rodkin (Bolshoi Theater of Russia), Vladimir Shklyarov, Xander Parish (Mariinsky Theater), Jacopo Tissi (Bolshoi Theater of Russia), Bakhtiyar Adamzhan (Astana Opera), as well as their brilliant partners. Artists will show the momentous numbers that have made Nureyev and his dance famous.
In the concert as a guest of honor, the friend and disciple of Rudolf Nureyev, the legendary French choreographer and dancer Charles Jude will take part.
During the evening, rare documentary footage from the life of the great artist will be shown.
The concert will be held with the support of the Rudolf Nureyev Foundation (The Rudolf Nureyev Foundation).
