The Russian Islamic Institute to host the International Olympiad in Islamic Disciplines and Arabic Language

On 12–13 November, the Russian Islamic Institute will host a unique event for Islamic education in Russia — the 18th International Olympiad for students of Islamic educational institutions in Islamic disciplines and the Arabic language.

The aim of the Olympiad is to identify talented students in the study of Islamic sciences and the Arabic language, and to create the necessary conditions to support gifted learners. Students of higher Islamic educational institutions from various regions of Russia will take part, including Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Dagestan, Chechnya, Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachay-Cherkessia, and Moscow (over 20 institutions).

Held annually since 2008, the Olympiad continues to expand its geography of participants. In 2023, it reached the international level for the first time, with representatives from CIS countries — Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan. In 2024, participants from Iran, India, and Türkiye joined for the first time. This year, the Olympiad will welcome students from Malaysia, Indonesia, and Pakistan.

Rafik Mukhametshin, Rector of the Russian Islamic Institute, noted:

“We are the only ones organizing an Olympiad of this scale and format in Islamic disciplines and the Arabic language. It is safe to say that this is a unique event for Russia. Each year, we expand the list of international participants, which increases both competition and the prestige of the event. I hope that all participants will gain many positive emotions and impressions!”

The Olympiad features the following categories: Islamic law, fundamentals of religion, and Arabic language. It consists of written test assignments in all categories. In addition, participants competing in the Arabic language category must demonstrate oral proficiency. All winners and runners-up will receive certificates and valuable prizes.

Media representatives are invited to attend the closing ceremony of the International Olympiad, which will take place on 13 November at IT Park, located at: Kazan, Petersburgskaya St., 52. The event will begin at 14:00.
