Today, on July 14, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan and Chairman of the National Council of the World Congress of the Tatars, Vasil Shaykhraziev, met with Olim Narzullaev, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Interethnic Relations and Relations with Compatriots Abroad under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The delegation from Uzbekistan included Shokhrukh Bakhtiyarov, Chief Specialist of the Committee on Interethnic Relations and Relations with Compatriots Abroad, and Azizbek Razakov, First Secretary of the General Consulate of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Kazan.
The program featured a presentation on the work of the Assembly and the House of Friendship of the Peoples of Tatarstan, as well as visits to the headquarters of the World Congress of Tatars, the Mardzhani Mosque, the Mardzhani Museum, and the Old Tatar Settlement.
During the meeting with Vasil Gabtelgayazovich, discussions focused on supporting the activities of nine Tatar public organizations operating in various cities of Uzbekistan. Ideas were proposed for creating a new umbrella Tatar organization to unite these smaller groups. There was also discussion on developing a sister-city movement between cities in the Republic of Tatarstan and Uzbekistan.
“The Tatar national movement is widespread around the world — you can make use of its resources,” noted Shaykhraziev.
The meeting also addressed issues of interethnic cooperation and strengthening ties with compatriots abroad.
