Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan, Chairman of the National Council of the World Congress of the Tatars Vasil Shaykhraziev is currently in the Kamchatka Territory. Today he met with the Governor of the Kamchatka Territory Viktor Solodov.
“Kamchatka is the most distant region of Russia. Despite this, all peoples live here amicably. They preserve their traditions and customs. The Tatar society is one of the most active in our region,” the Governor said.
Vasil Shaykhraziev noted that more than 3.5 thousand Tatars live in Kamchatka, and Sabantuy holidays are held annually. This year, the national holiday in the region was proposed to be held on July 20.
He also raised the issue of building a mosque in the Kamchatka Territory: “Two years ago, we celebrated the 1100th anniversary of the adoption of Islam by Volga Bulgaria. The issue of allocating land for the construction of a mosque in the capital of the Kamchatka Territory was considered,” he said. Viktor Solodov replied that a decision on the mosque issue would be made during the first quarter of this year.
