Vasil Shaykhraziyev: “The family elevates the individual, and the individual elevates the nation!”

On December 25, Vasil Shaykhraziyev, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan and Chairman of the National Council of the World Congress of the Tatars, held a meeting with media representatives. He summarized the results of the outgoing year and answered questions from journalists.

During the meeting, Vasil Shaykhraziyev highlighted the achievements of 2024, which had been declared the “Year of Personalities” by the National Council of the World Congress of the Tatars. Declaring 2024 as the “Year of Personalities” was incredibly important to us. We succeeded in presenting to the world the rich history and extraordinary individuals of the Tatar people”, he said.

In 2024, the World Congress of the Tatars made significant efforts to honor the memory of great historical figures. On April 16, a ceremonial unveiling of a bust of Galimakhmet Mazitov, Hero of the Soviet Union, took place in Yalta. This significant event, timed to coincide with the 80th anniversary of Yalta’s liberation from Nazi invaders and the 10th anniversary of Crimea’s reunification with Russia, was attended by officials from Tatarstan and the Republic of Crimea, as well as descendants of Galimakhmet Mazitov.

On June 15, in the village of Barda, located in the Bardymsky Municipal District of Perm Krai, a bust and memorial park dedicated to Musa Jalil, Hero of the Soviet Union and Tatar poet, were unveiled as part of the 14th All-Russian Rural Sabantuy festival. Another bust of Musa Jalil was officially opened in Kurgan on June 22.

Additional busts of Musa Jalil, Hero of the Soviet Union, Tatar poet, and war correspondent, were unveiled on November 1 in the village of Ust-Bagaryak in Kunashaksky District, Chelyabinsk Oblast, and on November 2 in the city of Shadrinsk, Kurgan Oblast.
Internationally, on July 16, a memorial stele dedicated to Musa Jalil was inaugurated at Secondary School-Gymnasium No. 29 in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic.

On July 28, in the city of Brest, Republic of Belarus, a commemorative plaque was unveiled to honor natives of the Republic of Tatarstan who participated in the defense of the Brest Fortress, as well as the liberation of Belarus and the city of Brest during the Great Patriotic War.
