The Year of 2015 has been announced at the municipality of Khokhorsk of the Bokhansky region of the Irkutsk oblast as Year of Tatar culture.

According to the press service of the regional administration, during the year the municipality will carry out a lot of events dedicated to the traditions and culture of the Tatar people: folk ensemble “Duslyk” and its companion – a children’s collective “Sandugach” will present a concert program in each village of the municipality. In the second quarter of 2015 a holiday of national cuisine at the village Kharatirgen is to be held , in Khokhorsk – an exhibition of arts and crafts in rural libraries – exhibitions in schools – class hours devoted to the Tatar culture will take place.

The first of the year’s activities of Tatar culture was held in kindergartens in villages Rusinovka, Novovoskresenka, Shunta and Khokhorsk where cultural workers performed a program of “Tatar Fairy Tale”: an amateur puppet theater showed preschool children two tales, children watched several cartoons in the Tatar language, which were translated by participant of Tatar folk ensemble “Duslyk” Nuria Malikova.

The boys and girls got acquainted with Tatar national holiday, watching cartoons “Sabantui”, learned and participated in national games: running three feet and running with a spoon. After a fun-filled event they learned a few words in the Tatar language.
