Yoshkar-Ola will host the harvest festival “Sөmbelә” (“Sumbelya”), celebrated on the day of the autumnal equinox. This occasion marks the completion of the harvest and the autumn sowing season, and it is a time to honor the Tatar folk festival of labor.
The origins of this holiday date back to ancient times. Our distant ancestors celebrated it with joy, marking the end of all fieldwork. On this day, people would rest after long and arduous days spent in the fields.
“Sөmbelә” aims to introduce guests to the tradition and customs of the Tatar people, as well as their culture, cuisine, and national games.
The program for the holiday includes:
