60 years ago the G. Tukay Award  was established

The Award  was established on April 8, 1958 by the Ministry of Culture of the Tatar SSR

60 years ago, the State Award  of the Republic of Tatarstan  named  after G.Tukai  was established.  (1958), awarded for the most significant in terms of ideological content and artistic merit works of literature and art.

 

History of the award

The Award  was established on April 8, 1958 by the Ministry of Culture of the Tatar SSR and has since been awarded annually (with a break in 1961-1965 and in 1975). Until 1991, the decision to award the Gabdulla Tukay Award  was made by the Council of Ministers of the TASSR, since 1991 this function is performed by the President of Tatarstan.

 

The first prize was awarded in 1958 to composer Farid Yarullin for the ballet “Shurale”, Nazib Zhiganov for the opera “Jalil” and Ahmed Fayzi for the novel “Tukay” and the popularization of Gabdulla Tukay’s creativity. The third prize was given to the Galiascar Kamal Theater Company for staging the play “Without Sails”. The awards were also awarded to artists Lotfulla Fattakhova and Haris Yakupov for illustrations to the collection “Tatar Folk Tales”, director Niyaz Dautov for productions of “Altynchch” and “Eugene Onegin” at the Tatar Opera and Ballet Theater.

Currently, three equivalent prizes are annually awarded by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan. The laureate of the Gabdulla Tukay Prize receives a diploma, a certificate and an Honorary Badge of the Laureate and a monetary reward. The award is usually awarded to one applicant, but can be awarded to a team of applicants, which can consist of no more than eight people. It is also possible to award the prize posthumously.
