December 18, Kazan will host the International Conference dedicated to the celebration of the 500th anniversary of the birth of Syuyumbike. The organizer is the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of the RT.
Participants will be invited to discuss the role of women in a political life of the Golden Horde and the Tatar Khanates using the examples of the rulers Taydula, Nursultan, Gauharshad, Syuyumbike, as well as issues of source study of the gender history of medieval Turkic-Tatar states.
Scholars will also be able to speculate about the place of women in the cultural and everyday life of the Tatars in the XIII-XVIII centuries, about the image of Syuyumbike in the historical memory of the Tatars and Tatar culture.
Conference materials will be published in the collection of articles “The Tatar Queen Suyumbike: from historical reality to historical memory”, some of the articles will be printed in the journal “The Golden Horde Review,” the Institute’s press service reports.
