In the UK the V national holiday “Sabantui” July 16, 2016 was celebrated.
The guests and participants of Sabantui were welcomed by Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation Ambassador to the UK Alexander Yakovenko. He noted that the festival demonstrates the richness and diversity of Russian culture, where great respect to the traditions of all its peoples is maintained.
Also, a congratulatory letter from President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov was read out, and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bashkortostan under the President of Russian Federation Artur Shaynurov spoke.
As part of the “Sabantui” in honor of the anniversary event was an exhibition of paintings by Rinat Kuramshin dedicated to the 130th anniversary of Gabdulla Tukai and the 110th anniversary of the poet-hero M. Jalil and art exhibition “Ethno-cultural traditions.”
By the 25th anniversary of the Commonwealth of Independent States was held ethnographic festival-
competition “Ethno Art Fest”, attended by representatives of diplomatic Russian missions of the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Tatarstan, the World Congress of Tatars, the Mayor of London, non-governmental organizations and national diasporas of CIS countries in the UK.
At the fair national souvenirs, handicrafts and crafts were presented, tasting of traditional cuisine passed fashion shows of national costumes of Russia and CIS nations, as well as the display of modern models of clothes was held. Much attention was attracted by national games and sports, wrestling Kuresh. The program of the concert were the artists and creative teams with the Tatar, Bashkir, Russian, British, and singing and dancing. For children and adults were organized games, workshops on traditional Tatar and Bashkir dances. Competitions for best costume were held, the best work of art, the best music and dance items.
The event has been organized by the Tatar Cultural Center of the Company «Ethno Art Fest», the Association of Tatars and Bashkirs of the Great Britain, the Russian Embassy in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and
Northern Ireland, Rossotrudnichestvo, the Coordination Council of Russian Compatriots and others.
