The  Tatar society for a long   time  has been  characterized by an interest in local history. This interest   in  a local history  at the turn  of XIX -XX centuries has  turned  among Tatars into a  movement as  known  having made a   significant contribution to the establishment of the national historical science.

The surge of interest in local history, the study of the history of their villages, districts, the history of individual communities, families and their genealogies, etc., has now become one of the elements of modern life.

By now,  the   problems  have developed  both scientific and methodological  support for  the preparation of local history research and the use of the achievements of local history in the fundamental works on the history of Tatars, as well as in the general education system.

February 13, 2016,  the World Congress of Tatars Executive Committee  holds  the Republican Forum of Tatar regional specialists. Currently, the forum will be attended by 150 representatives from regions and cities in the Republic of Tatarstan.

The program includes: an exhibition of local history books, the plenary session of the forum and a meeting of the Board of “All-Tatar society of local lore.” Also, the forum participants will visit the Museum “Kazan – 1000th anniversary”.
