The Kazan International Muslim Film Festival signed an agreement on partnership with the International Festival “Cinema Religion and Society. Religion – today “, taking place in Italy. The signing ceremony took place today at the press center of XIV KMFMK on the site of the hotel and entertainment complex “Riviera”.

“Our festival was founded in 1997 as a platform on which religious cinema about different confessions is shown. We hold not only shows, but also round tables, master classes with directors, actors, we build work for the production of quality cinema, we help the dialogue of representatives of different religions. The founder of our festival was in Kazan two years ago, she said that this is an exceptional festival and we must work with it. I am very glad that we can work together to make our society more friendly, tolerant and open, “said  art director of the Festival of Religious Cinema Andrea Morgen.

On the part of the Kazan Film Festival, the agreement was signed by  executive director of XIV KMFMK, Milyausha Aytuganova. She stressed that the Kazan Film Festival and the Festival of Religious Cinema are related in spirit and content, filling the programs, so the union of the two major film forums will promote  progressing moral cinema in the world market.

This year the Kazan Film Festival became a partner of a number of international film festivals – agreements were signed with the directorates of the International Eurasia Festival in Kazakhstan, the Arab and European Film Festival in Sharm El Sheikh, the Geneva Festival of Oriental Cinema and the Istanbul Documentary Film Festival “Turkic World”.

The Kazan International Muslim Film Festival (KMFMK) is held annually from   September 4 to 11. The competition program of the 14th film forum has  gathered more than 800 applications from 56 countries. It traditionally includes four main nominations (full-length and short, feature and documentary films), as well as the nomination “Young Russia” (contest of works by young Russian directors) and “National Competition”, where only Tatarstan film directors could come forward. In the main competition program, 65 films were admitted to the selection process: in addition to the national competition, which included 15 films, 10 works were included in each nomination.

In the framework of the out-of-competition program KIMMK will show pictures about Orthodoxy, Islam and other religions, traditions and customs of different peoples (in the section “Dialogue of Cultures”), works  by  young cinematographers (“Kinoproby” section). For the first time at the Kazan Muslim Film Festival, the cinema section for children “Kinomir of Childhood” will open. Creative meetings will be conducted by invited stars and participants of the festival’s competitive program – Marat Basharov, Emmanuil Vitorgan, Kamil Larin and others. The main venues for the festival this year will be the Grand Cinema 3D Port Cinema (main program) and the Mir cinema (parallel program) located in the entertainment complex Riviera. All events and screenings of the festival, except for the opening and closing ceremonies, are traditionally open and free for all comers. To attend the film screenings of the festival, pre-registration and booking is not required, admission to the hall is in order of the first order to full occupancy of the halls.

The closing ceremony with the announcement of the winning films and the laureates of the XIV Kazan International Muslim Film Festival will start today at 18:00 at the Hermitage Concert Hall.
